Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for the PM Youth Laptop Scheme, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Possess a valid CNIC/B-Form number
  2. Students from all over Pakistan, including AJ&K, are eligible
  3. Must be a student until the closing date of the application
  4. Students who are currently enrolled in public sector universities or degree-awarding institutes recognized by the HEC are eligible (excluding distance learning programs).
  5. Students enrolled in a 4-year or 5-year bachelor's degree program (offered in morning and evening sessions) are eligible.
  6. Ph.D. program with a duration of 5 years
  7. MS/MPhil or equivalent program with a duration of 2 years.
  8. MBA program with durations of 3.5 years, 2.5 years, and 1.5 years.
  9. Master's program (16 years of education) with a duration of 2 years.

Not Eligible:

Certain categories of students are not eligible for the PM Youth Laptop Scheme, including those who have completed their degree, failed in any subjects, or have already received a laptop through any other scheme. Students enrolled in affiliated colleges, post-graduate colleges, and private sector higher education institutions are also not eligible. Distance learning students are also excluded.

Laptop Distribution Strategy:

The laptop distribution process follows these steps:

  1. Once a student applies, the system verifies their eligibility.
  2. After the system checks the focal person of the relevant department or university will verify the data of the student specifically Name, CNIC, Department, last exam percentage, or CGPA.
  3. The focal person approves or rejects the application based on its nature.
  4. After the verification deadline from HEC, the system generates a merit list.
  5. Each university receives a predetermined share of laptops based on quotas related to enrollment, departments, campuses, and degrees.
  6. HEC shares the merit list with universities for cross-checking.
  7. After cross-checking, the final merit list is shared with the universities.
  8. Each university is responsible for sharing the merit list on its portals and notice boards in its respective departments.

Laptop Distribution Criteria:
  • Laptops will be distributed on a merit basis. According to the PM's office, 14% of the laptops (14,000) will be allocated to Balochistan, while the remaining 86,000 laptops will be distributed among other universities. Each university will receive a share based on enrollment, department quotas, campus quotas, and degree quotas.
